Tips to Develop your Child's Art Savvy
1. Create a workspace. The most discouraging thing is to say "Don't make a mess!"2. Gather materials. Drawing paper, construction paper, colored pencils, crayons, markets, clay, scissors.. visit your art supply store regularly to see what's new!
3. Collect examples. Different artists and styles. Look for calendars or postcards in museums.
4. Talk about artwork. Ask your child to tell you about her artwork instead of asking "what is this?" Discuss techniques and mediums used.
5. Display your child's work. A great idea is an "art wire" to hang the art with clips. Don't forget...it's easy to scan or photograph the artwork and save it.
6. Go to museums and galleries.
7. Read books about art.
