Sugar Cookies Recipe

This recipe is what we recommend to use for our cookie decorating classes held at Mangelsen's

Ingredients:

1/2 lb.(2 sticks) Margarine (not butter), room temp.

1 1/2 c. Sugar

2 lg. Eggs

1/2 Tbsp. Vanilla

1/2 Tbsp. Butter flavoring

3 ½- 4 c. Flour

1/2 tsp. Salt

Directions:

1. Cream margarine & sugar together completely.
2. Then add eggs & flavorings; mix well. Stir in flour, mixed with salt. CHILL before using.
3. Roll out dough at least ¼” (roll between dowel rods for exact size); use baking parchment for ease of arranging cut
cookie dough on baking sheet. (Put cookies of similar size on a baking sheet for even baking.)
4. Bake cookies at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes (thicker cookies) or 8-10 minutes (thinner, smaller cookies)-do not overly brown these cookies.
(This dough keeps well in a covered container in the refrigerator for a couple of weeks-excellent for freezing). This is not a ‘sweet’ cookie recipe so it
lends itself well to decorating and has no leavening so you have a flat surface to work on.
