Learn the ins and outs of quilting by starting at the beginning. This is a lecture/demo/hands-on combination class for beginners and others who want to master the fundamentals. We’ll cover fabric, pressing, cutting, block building and a tiny bit of quilt math. Then we’ll move on to design and talk through color and value. A few more basics will include seam allowance, stitch-and-flip, triangles and acrylic templates. A firm foundation is always a great place to start. Come and join us for this relaxed time of learning.

 Supply list:

One yard of good quality quilt-weight cotton fabric

45mm rotary cutter with a sharp blade

Pen and paper for taking notes

*Above supplies available for purchase in-store

A sewing machine is not needed for this class, but you’ll probably want one if you begin to create quilts, unless you intend to make quilts by hand.

Meet the instructor: Diane Harris is a quilt designer, speaker and teacher. After 11 years as an editor for Quiltmaker magazine, she formed Stash Bandit to present energetic trunk shows and engaging classes for quilters. She is passionate about making scrap quilts and creating interesting original designs, and she never met a fabric she didn’t like. Her work is regularly featured by publications in the US and abroad.
